Easy Bread Pudding Recipe

easy bread pudding recipe

Easy bread pudding recipe is an old and favorite dessert. It's a true comfort food. My bread pudding recipe has the most interesting “Twist”.

2 cups warm whole milk (or 2 cups half & half)

1/4 cup melted butter

2/3 cup brown sugar (light or dark, depends on your taste preference)

3 eggs

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups bread, torn into small pieces (French bread works the best)

Preheat the oven to 350F (180C).

In one bowl, mix warm whole milk and melted butter.

In another bowl, combine sugar, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla with electric mixer. Add slowly milk and butter mixture during the combining.

Place the bread in a lightly greased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Pour batter on top of the bread.

Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until set.

Serve warm.

In order to add extra flavorful and intriguing “Twist” to this pudding: add ½ cup of raisins that were presoaked for 1 hour in red wine. It gives the unique combination of flavors that will take your senses on a trip to Paris.

Be creative with this recipe. Bread pudding recipe is priceless with diced apples or diced strawberries. Just choose your “Twist” for today and adjust the recipe for your evening dinner success.

If you love cream cheese, add my cheesy "Twist": instead 2 cups of warm whole milk, use 1 cup whole milk and 8oz (250g) cream cheese at room temperature. And continue with the recipe as written.

Cheers,
Victoria Paikin
