This easy french toast recipe with the most luscious cream cheese filling.
6 slices of white bread
1 extra large egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4oz cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons butter
¼ cup raisins
1 teaspoon cinnamon
In shallow dish mix egg, milk, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon sugar and set aside.
In separate bowl make filling: mix cream cheese with ½ teaspoon vanilla, 1 teaspoon sugar, pinch of cinnamon and raisins until well blended.
Spread filling on one piece of bread and cover it with second one. Make the same to other 4 pieces of bread.
Dunk the sandwiches on both sides in egg and milk mixture. Preheat large skillet to medium heat, then add 1 tablespoon of butter and melt it.
Place French toasts on a skillet and fry them for 2 minutes on one side or until get caramelized. Flip to the other side and add the rest of the butter. Fry them for another 1-2 minutes on the other side or until beautiful and brown.
On a plate mix the rest of sugar and the rest of cinnamon. Sprinkle French toast with sugar cinnamon mix and apply to you face!
My easy French toast recipe is the most rewarding thing for brunches and different morning gatherings.
1 stale French baguette
5 eggs
½ cup whole milk
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon natural vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter
¾ cup custard sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1. If you have stale baguette use it, just cut it to ½in (1½cm) slices and then follow the recipe.
2. If you have fresh baguette you can use it as well. Just cut it to ½in (1½cm) slices and let them stand for 30 minutes or so outside, or pop the cut slices to preheated oven to 250F (120C) for 10 minutes and then follow the recipe.
3. Take flat shallow dish with little borders and mix eggs, milk, vanilla extract, salt and 1 tablespoon of melted butter.
4. Take another shallow dish and mix sugar and cinnamon.
5. Preheat flat non stick griddle to medium-low heat and add small knob of butter.
6. Soak the baguette slices for 10 seconds or so per side in eggs batter and place them on a griddle.
7. Cook for 2 minutes or until the side caramelizes. Flip to the other side and cook for another minute or until the second side caramelizes as well.
8. Take them out and cover with sugar-cinnamon mix. Add another knob of butter to the griddle and continue frying the next batch.
There are endless possibilities for “Twist” to this recipe but I’ll stop with two. My coconut “Twist” for this recipe is simple. Just substitute sugar and cinnamon with 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut. Simply dip each baguette slice in coconut after soaking in eggs batter and then fry.
The other “Twist” for this recipe is actually Russian one. In my life I ate way more savory French toasts than sweet ones. Just take out all vanilla, cinnamon, sugar and continue with the recipe. Serve on top with your beloved cheese, ham or even baloney. You can serve those French toasts with dips and salads as well.
