Easy Goulash Recipe

easy fruit salad recipe

Easy goulash recipe is a great Hungarian beef stew recipe. The warming smell that wafting thru the house is sensational when you cook this recipe.

2 large onions

2 medium carrots

3 garlic cloves

¼ cup frying oil or lard

2 bay leaves

1 teaspoon crushed cumin

1 tablespoon sweet paprika

1 teaspoon cyan pepper (or to taste)

2lb (1kg) stewing beef

2 tablespoons flour

2 medium potatoes

¾ cup tomato paste

1 cup water

salt, pepper to taste

1. Mince onions, carrots and slice garlic.

2. In a heavy bottom large pan put oil and start to sauté onions, carrots and garlic with oil until they become well caramelized.

3. Now add spices and sauté with them for 30 seconds or so.

4. Meanwhile cover the meat in flour and add it to a pan. Sauté the meat until flour is well incorporated in the oil (and with veggies) for about 3 minutes; no need for meat to be caramelized.

5. Peel and cube potatoes.

6. Dissolve the tomato paste in water and add everything to the pan.

7. Season with salt and pepper. Lower the heat and pop the lid on and simmer for 2 hours. You might need to add a little more water half way thru.

8. Serve it with hearty pasta like penne.

My “Twist” for this recipe is another way of preparation. This dish is a perfect slow cooker recipe. All you need to do is to caramelize the onions and carrots and then to add everything to the slow cooker. Let it cook for 4 hours on high heat.
