Easy Greek recipes are the majority of Greek cuisine. Like in all Mediterranean countries you cook what you harvest, milk or raise. This means that food is fresh, simple, flavorful and straightforward. Olives and olive oil, cheeses, yogurt, fresh herbs and of course seafood comes fresh and spectacular to the table.

There are many regions in Greece and thru the history this country was influenced by many cultures. Pasta dishes have their respectful place in Greek cuisine. Desserts that feature honey nuts and filo pastry are very common. Mezes are very similar to Spanish tapas; those are small plates full with different salads, dips and pickles served as an appetizer with pita bread. Spice wise cinnamon and cloves usually used in stews.

Beef is rare in Greek cuisine; much more common is sheep and goat meat.Wines and anise-flavored liquors like ouzo are national staple drinks.

Greek recipes are delicious, fun and exciting and everyone should try them.

Cheers,
Victoria Paikin
