I love hummus, my family loves hummus. Therefore, I have easy hummus recipe as an absolute stand by for all year around. We eat hummus as a dip or as a sandwich spread with ham, instead of mayonnaise.
2. After garlic is chopped add 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, and then add the rest of ingredients and liquids.
3. Chop well until everything becomes a paste. Transfer the mixture into a serving dish and pour over the top the rest of olive oil.
I have few very tasty and colorful “Twists” for this delicious hummus.
My green “Twist”: add 1/4 cup cilantro and 1/4 cup parsley to the chopper after you chop garlic. Chop the herbs finely and then proceed with the recipe. It gives light green color to the hummus and adds very fresh taste.
My red “Twist”: add red grilled pepper from small jar. Just drain the juices and chop the pepper with hummus. It turns the hummus to light red. To deepen the color and to add smoky flavor add 1/2 teaspoon of sweet paprika.
My yellow “Twist”: add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric and 1 tablespoon of yellow mustard. This yellow mustardy and perfumed hummus is the best dip for your vegetables. It also goes great with meats.
