Easy Slow Cooker Recipes

Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Easy Slow Cooker Recipes are my saviors! This way of cooking is the least time consuming and makes recipes to very cheap quick easy dinner recipes beyond your imagination.

If you have in mind easy dinner recipes probably this is the way to prepare your dinner.

In order to prepare your slow cooker recipes you can use varies types of slow cookers. It is a small electric appliance that cooks food with a low, moist heat for a period of 3-12 hours. The food is prepared for consistent low temperature.

There are a few types and sizes available in the market. There are three general shapes: oval, rectangular and round. Oval and rectangular shapes are more suitable to hold whole poultry or big chunks of meat. The round shape is more suitable for soups and stews.

Removable cooking pots, in my opinion, are crucial for easy maintaining and serving the food. About additional features, I can say, that they are absolutely not so important for perfect results of your easy dinner recipes.

The kind of slow cooker that you should buy depends on your budget, the kind of food that you are going mostly to prepare and amount of people that you have to feed.

Since slow cookers can cook at low temperatures, they do not provide a significant amount of heat. It means that you can put slow cooker in the morning and go to work and not to worry that something will happen to your food or it will start a fire.

Here are a few tips and possible problems and solutions for making your easy slow cooker recipes to even better, quicker and cheaper recipes:

For best results you should put 3/4 volume of cooking pot and food should never touch the lead.

The best thing to do is to thaw food prior to placing it in a cooking pot. If the food is frozen when placed in the pot, additional cooking time for the thawing is required. You can work this fact for your benefit by putting frozen food into the pot in the morning and go out for especially long day. As we know frozen food is cheaper than fresh one and sometimes healthier.

In order to prepare your easy slow cooker recipes of:

soups and stews on the best side, you’ll need to put less liquid than usual (there is almost no evaporation). If it’s too thick you can add additional liquid in the last half an hour of cooking. Easy beef stew recipe is a perfect example for this kind of dish.

The best way to cook the meats is to follow a few basic rules:

The higher the fat content of the meat, the less liquid you’ll need for your recipes. The perfect example is my orange flavored easy pork roast recipe , which is always a success. In that recipe I use pork shoulder that has higher fat content.

Cooking times are estimated. Meats with bone will take longer time to cook and lean meats and poultry will cook faster. In my easy pork chops recipe you can use bone in or boneless pork chops. So don’t forget to adjust the cooking times.

Browning the meat before cooking, in my opinion, is absolutely not necessary. The extra flavors and thickness don’t worth the effort and the time.

The use of vegetables requires to put them below or on the sides of the slow cooker. The reason is that vegetables usually take longer time to cook than the meats.

If you want to add fish, you’ll need to add it in the last 15 minutes because fish cooks very fast.

I love good seasoning in my easy recipes. I think herbs and spices are the best way to enrich any recipe. The guidelines are simple:

Fresh herbs should be added at the end of cooking cycle, because they loose their flavor and color with long cooking.

Dried herbs and spices should be added to easy slow cooker recipes at the beginning of the cooking cycle. The reason is that dried herbs and spices tend to become quite intense with long cooking. My recommendation is to put a little bit in the beginning and to add more if needed at the end. This way you control the amount of seasoning you wish to have in your recipes.

Don’t forget those guidelines when you’re cooking easy curry chicken recipe and you’ll have a perfect curry every time.

The flavorful and healthy “Twist” as I promised will come in each and every one of budget friendly recipes. In each one of easy slow cooker recipes I will give a time saver “Twist” or/and budget friendly “Twist”. You can read more general time and budget-saving tips for coking here.

Cheers,
Victoria Paikin
